Aquazone Buffer Tanks
Aquazone buffer vessels are designed for chilled water systems with insufficient water volume capacity. These systems require additional ‘buffer’ capacity to prevent problems, such as excessive compressor cycling, poor temperature control and erratic system operation. By incorporating a buffer tank to the system, it creates extra volume and provides additional ‘buffer’ capacity, eliminating rapid cycling of the chillers and other issues.

Uses of Buffer Tanks
If a large building is undergoing extensions, integrating large buffer tanks will defer the capital expenditure for a larger chiller. The tanks are insulated, which helps maintain the temperature of the stored water. This enables the chiller to perform longer and provide extra chilled water.
Buffer tanks also have other uses, including eliminating the need for low load chiller and providing chilled water storage for data centres during power failure and time delay for the generator to provide full backup power.
If sparge pipes and baffles are added, the chilled water buffer vessels can effectively act as Thermal Energy Storage Tanks. They allow the chillers to operate during off-peak hours and provide an effective strategy for energy cost reductions.
Aquazone Buffer Tanks can be manufactured in stainless steel or carbon steel, and designed to AS1210 Unfired Pressure Vessels, Hazard level E. The tanks can also be made to suit your specific requirements. Connections can be located, and diameter and height can be altered to your specification.

Configuration & Orientation
Aquazone tanks are available as a standard design in the vertical orientation. Sizes 4,000 litres and larger are also available in the horizontal orientation. Each orientation is available with various inlet/outlet configurations depending on the quantity and position of the inlets and outlets.
Thermal Storage Tanks
Aquazone tanks can be supplied with sparge pipes to achieve optimal circulation of water stored within the tank. This results in thermalstratification, which, together with proper insulation, provides effective thermal energy storage tanks in chilled and heating water applications.
Accessories
Aquazone tanks come with standard accessories and can be provided with extras when required.
Standard accessories include:
